Howard Wilson Collection - Religious Life, Practice and Art in Sri Lanka and South Asia Generally

Mrs. Marti Wilson, a member of the American Friends of the AIIT, has offered to present the Trust with the extensive collection of slides and photographs made by her husband, Prof. Howard Wilson, who held the Chair in Trans-Cultural Studies in the Capital University, Ohio. In general terms these are centred on: a) the role of religious art in the life of the people of South Asia, and b) the role of religious art in Theravada Buddhism in Sri Lanka. The first of these collections includes over 20,000 slides, and the second 5,300 slides.

The transparences and photographs are currently being scanned by Mrs. Wilson and arranged into a digital archive as part of the Digitisation Project.
